The southwest monsoon conditions are most likely to establish over the island during the next week. Therefore, heavy rain can be expected at places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and along the western slopes of the central hills in the central province and in the Galle and Matara districts during the next three weeks period.   Heavy rain may trigger floods, landslides and mud slides over the vulnerable places in the above regions of the island.  Therefore, those living in the flood plains and landslides prone areas are advised to be vigilant.

Fairly strong winds will also occur at times in the Sabaragamuwa, Western, Southern and Central provinces.   

Seas off the western and southern coasts will also become rough due to strong winds.
